Awards season is upon us once again, kicking off with the Golden Globes. And though this red carpet has historically been one worth looking forward—incredible fashion is pretty much the norm—the 2018 ceremony was highly anticipated in a different way, as reports emerged about actresses coordinating to wear all black as a form of protest against sexual harassment and gender inequity in Hollywood, issues that dominated headlines in 2017. Among those who participated in the fashion blackout were Kelly Clarkson, Chrissy Metz, Debra Messing, Allison Williams, Claire Foy, and many others; some men showed solidarity, too. What this means for the rest of award season is still to be determined, but it certainly sets a tone for red carpets to come.
