Ballerina-inspired is one of Fall 2016’s biggest trends, and we must say that we are really enjoying this one. The first hint of this ethereal direction came during the Valentino Fall 2016 show back in March. Models appeared to glide across the runway in tulle skirts and ankle wrapped shoes, topped off with low chignon buns, and we knew something was about to take off. Fast forward to fall and all our favorite retailers have us ready to sign up for ballet class just as an excuse to wear these pieces on the regular.
Zara was the first in the fast-fashion world to really jump on the trend, launching a full collection earlier this summer that resembles designs straight out of a Degas masterpiece. The pieces have since become a massive success for the store with new items being added almost weekly. The choices seem to be endless now that the trend has taken off, from the ever popular Miu Miu ballet flats all the way down to tutus and leotards from the likes of Asos and Nasty Gal.
We love this ballerina-inspired trend for it’s femininity and elegance. Put one of these pieces on and you can’t help but feel a bit more glamorous. Not sure about how to incorporate this into your regular dress code? Try adding one piece, like a wrap sweater or lace up shoe, and pair it with your go-to skinny jeans. As well, bodysuits are the all-time favorite fashion piece of the season and an easy way to embrace the ballerina look.
