How to Wear White Jeans
A well-versed wardrobe isn’t complete without the perfect pair of white jeans. This wardrobe staple is one of the easiest ways to take a casual outfit and make it dressy – think day to night look with the swap of a shoe. There is something about the right pair of white denim that always appears effortlessly cool and fashionably chic, all at the same time.
A lot of the female clients we work with are intially apprehensive about opting for the light colored denim in lieu of their go-to black or blue. That’s why we’ll always bring them upwards of 20 options to try during their in-home style fittings.
If you’re shopping for yourself, we recommend spending some time trying different styles and getting a sense of what is available and best suited for your body type. Jeans are a challenge to fit in general, and factoring in the light color makes them that much more difficult. The perfect pair will be thick enough so that you don’t feel like they’re see through and will fit you in all the right places.
An additional Personal Stylist’s tip: always have a tailor remove the pockets (front and back) from your white denim. It’s a very simple alteration and provides a much cleaner look. White pants in general, with pockets showing through, become distracting and sloppy. Our Personal Stylists always take care of these types of alterations on your behlaf, so you can be sure your clothes are in perfect shape.
Three questions our Personal Stylists get asked most often are: “what shoes do I wear with white jeans”, “how do I wear white jeans for a night out?”, and “are there certain colors that pair best with white jeans?”.
Since we’re big on visuals, here are some fantastic white jeans outfits to answer all your questions and to get you started with this wardrobe staple.
ADD COLOR + PRINT
Don’t be afraid to embrace color when styling this look. It’s the perfect opportunity! White denim looks great against bold colors and prints and makes for a fun and feminine look.
MONOCHROME
Pair your pants with a white or off-white top. The monochrome ensemble is one of the most classic ways to nail effortless style.
MIXED WITH LEATHER OR SUEDE
To give your white jeans less of a feminine feel, try pairing them with a statement leather or suede moto jacket. Perfect for a Friday date night out or concert with girlfriends.
CHAMBRAY TOP
Style your white jeans with a chambray top – any shade will work. The combination of the utiltarian top with the white makes this style more edgy.
TO THE OFFICE
White jeans can definitely be worn to the office if you work in a business casual environment – the key is to balance the outfit in a professional manner. Opt for styles that don’t have any rips or distressing and style them with slightly dressier, not-too-casual tops.
NEUTRALS
And lastly, white jeans work very well with other neutrals. This plays especially well if your style is more understated and you don’t wear too much color.
